work from home dads
Why people are against the stay at-home dads?

My sister and her husband have a daughter of 16 babies per month. They are married for 4 years, together for 10. My sister has an excellent working and paying my brother was a 1st grade teacher before he leaves. They live in San Francisco, and the cost of living is very high. My brother decided to leave his job for him to deal their daughter. He did a great job and the house is always clean. However, people always seem to be against fathers stay at home and I think they are all lazy. Why is this?

It's just because of tradition. Traditionally, it was the man that does the job in part because women simply were not allowed to do so. People are comfortable with the traditional and they tend to forget why this was the case. I think it will just take time for people to rethink the stay at home Dad. As it does the job, thats fine.

Good Dads, Bad Dads Good Dads, Bad Dads
$23.25

This is a timeless book for men of all generations. It is very pragmatic, informative and honest in its outlook and aims to be some resource of great support and guidance to fathers specifically and men in general. It tackles such issues as showing favouritism, unconditional love, keeping pledges, providing for the family, building an altar of worship, obedience to God's voice and the importance of leadership in the home among others. It is a very good indicator for men who want to ensure that peace, love and orderliness reign supreme in their homes and all other endeavours of life they are involved in. It is by no means exhaustive in its nature but acts as a pointer to the ageless truths found in the Bible. It challenges men to be all that they can be for the good of the society they live in and most of all the best fathers any children may ever desire to have. It is based on some Biblical characters, all of whom are very different one from the other with their flaws and areas of excellence in order that the good father today might eschew their short-comings and pursue those aspects of these biblical characters that are worthy. To ensure that fathers continually transform their lives, there is an accompanying workbook to stimulate them and to keep the nuggets found in this book close to their hearts which in turn reflects in the way they live their lives.

The four lessons included in this class are: Managing the Mouse and Keyboard; Exploring the Internet; Fostering Creativity via Computers; Using the Computer to Communicate with Family & Friends. While Dads can go over the entire book in one sitting with their child, WonderDads recommends doing one lesson each week for 30 minutes, for a total of four weeks, and even setting up a specific time (like Sundays at 4: 00) to do the class each week. Classes are one of the best (and most fun) ways for Dads to bond with their child. Unfortunately, many structured parent-child classes are held at a time of the day that make it impossible for most Dads to attend. For this reason, WonderDads has created Do-it-Yourself Classes in a book format that enables Dads to do a class with their child at any time they choose, in their own home or any other location. Each lesson is only a couple of pages and explains in detail how to cover the topic with your child, complete with activities and word recognition. Dads are encouraged to add their own flair and ideas, as well as take cues from their children on how to keep their interest. WonderDads classes have been created and recommended by teachers, pediatricians, Moms and Dads, and are an incredibly easy and fun way for Dads to bond with their child over a specific subject.

While residing in the afterworld at an amenity-laden paradise called Midway Manor, guitar-strumming Mickey Parks and piano-playing Lloyd Wallace monitor and manipulate the lives of their adult children on earth from the mid-'70s through the 1990s. Tampering with the facility's sophisticated computer, the dads thrust Mickey's daughter Allison and Lloyd's son Danny into a passionate but sometimes stormy relationship-a relationship steeped in Danny's heavy drinking and entangled in the often-zany world of men's adventure magazine publishing. After carefully implementing a plan to send their son and daughter a gift of knowledge that could enrich their lives forever, the dads' brief contact is cut short. They are banished to another destination in the afterworld, but not before they impart indisputable proof of life after death--and unwittingly put Danny's and Allison's earthbound lives on the line.

The Council of Dads: My Daughters, My Illness, and the Men Who Could Be Me The Council of Dads: My Daughters, My Illness, and the Men Who Could Be Me
$3.98

Bestselling author Bruce Feiler was a young father when he was diagnosed with cancer. He instantly worried what his daughters' lives would be like without him. "Would they wonder who I was? Would they wonder what I thought? Would they yearn for my approval, my love, my voice?" Three days later he came up with a stirring idea of how he might give them that voice. He would reach out to six men from all the passages in his life, and ask them to be present in the passages in his daughters' lives. And he would call this group "The Council of Dads." "I believe my daughters will have plenty of opportunities in their lives," he wrote to these men. "They'll have loving families. They'll have each other. But they may not have me. They may not have their dad. Will you help be their dad?" "The Council of Dads" is the inspiring story of what happened next. Feiler introduces the men in his Council and captures the life lesson he wants each to convey to his daughters--how to see, how to travel, how to question, how to dream. He mixes these with an intimate, highly personal chronicle of his experience battling cancer while raising young children, along with vivid portraits of his father, his two grandfathers, and various father figures in his life that explore the changing role of fathers in America. This is the work of a master storyteller confronting the most difficult experience of his life and emerging with wisdom and hope. "The Council of Dads" is a touching, funny, and ultimately deeply moving book on how to live life, how the human spirit can respond to adversity, and how to deepen and cherish the friendships that enrich our lives.

Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads: Dealing with the Difficult Parents in Your Child's Life Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads: Dealing with the Difficult Parents in Your Child's Life
$3.98

What happens to Queen Bees and Wannabes when they grow up? Even the most well-adjusted moms and dads can experience peer pressure and conflicts with other adults that make them act like they're back in seventh grade. In "Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads," Rosalind Wiseman gives us the tools to handle difficult situations involving teachers and other parents with grace. Reassuring, funny, and unfailingly honest, Wiseman reveals: - Why PTA meetings and Back-to-School nights tap into parents' deepest insecurities - How to recognize the archetypal moms and dads--from Caveman Dad to Hovercraft Mom - How and when to step in and step out of your child's conflicts with other children, parents, teachers, or coaches - How to interpret the code phrases other parents use to avoid (or provoke) confrontation - Why too many well-meaning dads sit on the sidelines, and how vital it is that they step up to the plate - What to do and say when the playing field becomes an arena for people to bully and dominate other kids and adults - How to have respectful yet honest conversations with other parents about sex and drugs when your values are in conflict - How the way you handle parties, risky behavior, and academic performance affects your child - How unspoken assumptions about race, religion, and other hot-button subjects sabotage parents' ability to work together "Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads" is filled with the kind of true stories that made Wiseman's "New York Times" bestselling book "Queen Bees & Wannabes" impossible to put down. There are tales of hardworking parents with whom any of us can identify, along with tales of outrageously bad parents--the kind we all have to reckon with. For instance, what do you do when parents donate a large sum of money to a school and their child is promptly transferred into the honors program-while your son with better grades doesn't make the cut? What about the mother who helps her daughter compose poison-pen e-mails to yours? And what do you say to the parent-coach who screams at your child when the team is losing? Wiseman offers practical advice on avoiding the most common parenting "land mines" and useful scripts to help you navigate difficult but necessary conversations. "Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads" is essential reading for parents today. It offers us the tools to become wiser, more relaxed parents-and the inspiration to speak out, act according to our values, show humility, and set the kind of example that will make a real difference in our children's lives. Also available as a Random House AudioBook and as an eBook "From the Hardcover edition."

Arlie Russell Hochschild, author of three "New York Times "Notable Books, has been one of the freshest and most popular voices in feminist sociology over the last decades. Her influential, unusually perceptive work has opened up new ways of seeing family life, love, gender, the workplace, market transactions--indeed, American life itself. This book gathers some of Hochschild's most important and most widely read articles in one place, includes new work, and brings several essays to American audiences for the first time. Each chapter reflects on the complex negotiations we make day to day to juggle the conflicting demands of love and work. Taken together, they are a compelling, often startling, look at how our everyday lives are shaped by modern capitalism. These essays, rich with the details of everyday life, explore larger social issues by looking at a series of intimate moments in people's lives. Among them, "Love and Gold" investigates the globalization of love by focusing on care workers who leave their own children and elderly to care for children and the elderly in wealthy countries. In "The Commodity Frontier," Hochschild considers an Internet ad for a "beautiful, smart, hostess, good masseuse--$400/week," and explores our responses to personal services for hire. In "From the Frying Pan into the Fire" she asks if capitalism is a religion. In addition to these recent essays, several of Hochschild's important early essays, such as "Inside the Clockwork of Male Careers," have been revised and updated for this collection.

Hundreds of thousands were enthralled by the luminous voice of John Ames in "Gilead," Marilynne Robinson's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. "Home "is an entirely independent, deeply affecting novel that takes place concurrently in the same locale, this time in the household of Reverend Robert Boughton, Ames's closest friend. Glory Boughton, aged thirty-eight, has returned to Gilead to care for her dying father. Soon her brother, Jack--the prodigal son of the family, gone for twenty years--comes home too, looking for refuge and trying to make peace with a past littered with tormenting trouble and pain. Jack is one of the great characters in recent literature. A bad boy from childhood, an alcoholic who cannot hold a job, he is perpetually at odds with his surroundings and with his traditionalist father, though he remains Boughton's most beloved child. Brilliant, lovable, and wayward, Jack forges an intense bond with Glory and engages painfully with Ames, his godfather and namesake. "Home "is a moving and healing book about families, family secrets, and the passing of the generations, about love and death and faith. It is Robinson's greatest work, an unforgettable embodiment of the deepest and most universal emotions.
