Most Critical Factor In Building A List

List building must be the most essential part of all the tasks you perform in your Internet marketing business. Your opt in list probably provides you with more income than any other facet of your Internet marketing business.

If anyone becomes successful in Internet marketing, it’s certain that they have a list. It’s essential to build a list of current or potential customers.

Anyone who’s been online for any length of time has laughed at some of the “men’s health” ads. But, it’s the size of your mailing list that really matters when it comes to online success. If you want to make big money, you’ve got to have a big list.

And, following in this thought, it’s also important to have a great squeeze page.. If your squeeze page is good at getting people to opt in, your list will grow quickly and you’ll have a big subscriber list.

How, then, can you build that big list? The newbie to Internet marketing almost always looks for a shortcut to success. After all, don’t the ads say one can work for 15 minutes a day and pull in $10,000 a month? People still looking for the secret are not going to put forth a lot of time and effort to build a big list. Instead, a newbie wants to go directly to the money. Their mindset is locked into the notion that success is just around the corner if only they could find that elusive secret.

That’s why you see so many ads that offer the secret to making money online. And, many novice Internet marketers are still trying to find that elusive secret. And, they are more than willing to spend big money to discover that secret.

While offering the big “secret” is selling the great dream, it isn’t reality.

Building a list is a process. You won’t build a very big list with just 15 minutes of daily effort.

One way people frequently use to build their list is to offer a free product to people who opt in.

With a little bit of effort you can create or find a great free product and get your list building going strong. Lots of people will be happy to subscribe to get your free product. The big question is, once a subscriber gets your free product, how do you get them to open your future emails? Then, your next concern should be to retain your subscribers and keep them from opting out of your list.

The solution is to provide your subscribers with high value content. This means you have to work at developing good content

Your probably receive lots of emails every week from lists you have subscribed to. You probably keep one finger on the “Delete” key as you go through your emails. You’re probably not reading very many of them. And, for good reason. You simply can’t afford the time to read them.

You now know what you need to do. You’ve got to provide high value content to your list members. Your message must be more valuable than what your subscriber has planned as soon as he or she deletes all their junk mail. Response rates for some of the best marketers hover in the range of 5-40%. Consistent high quality content can give you the edge.

So, you see that making your list grow is not the only activity you have to concentrate on. You’ve got to always provide interesting, quality content that makes your subscribers read your emails.

Both attracting new subscribers and keeping them reading are best accomplished by developing high quality content. You’re going to need to spend time creating interesting and valuable emails. This doesn’t happen overnight. It doesn’t happen in 15 minutes a day.

You need to motivate yourself to actively do what is needed to succeed. You are the that important secret resource in your Internet marketing arsenal. Are you ready to use that resource to make it big in Internet marketing?
