Watch Out: It’s a Scam!

By Tony Alverio

The internet is a great place for us to make money. It offers us various opportunities, people and ideas that can help our business prosper. The internet also provides faster and more efficient ways to conduct business, thus we get our payments right on time. But while we are enjoying all these conveniences, we should also be wary that the internet is also a hub for various crimes such as indentity theft. Without you knowing it, you can be robbed of your life savings just by doing a few clicks, as you have fallen on the hands of a scammer. So, as a newbie in the field of online business, how can you avoid meeting up with scams and other forms of theft?

First, if you have encountered an ad that’s flooded with sales pages and stuffed with praises without exactly explaining what the site is all about, then you should take extra caution. These pages are either scam sites that secretly send you worms or viruses with each and ever click you make, and from there they can retrieve information stored in your computer, including passwords. Thus when you feel that the page you landed on just takes you to another page of the similar face, then it’s time to stop and close the window.

Meanwhile, if you received an email from someone you don’t know inviting you to his or her business, well you can read the mail. But if the text in the subject line tells you something you cannot understand, then it’s time to delete the email. It’s spam.

Some scams meanwhile look sensible at first, but when their membership requires you to deposit a huge amount, likeĀ  around a $100, then that’s certainly highway robbery. Legitimate businesses would not ask for such amount right then and there-they would rather give you pertinent guidelines on how to be a member of their business.

If you plan to join the affiliate marketing trend, then be cautious as well. While there is big money in affiliate marketing, you should first conduct an investigation on the company you will take part of. There are a lot of phony affiliate marketing businesses in the internet nowadays, so better check the company profile first based on reviews and ratings from people expert in the said field. You can rely on these people as they have been around in the business for a period of time already.

Most of all, you must keep yourself updated. Take time to read the news and as well as blogs in making money online. From there you will know what’s currently happening in the business and see if there are new scams that you should watch out for.
