Why Is It So Necessary For A Supervisor And Their Employees To Have A Proficent Character
By
Today in the 21st Century, Corporations and their work place ethics seems more relaxed and unprofessional than in years past and most employees want a relaxed work atmosphere. They love casual dress, casual conversation, going on smoke break often, plus the necessary trips to the privy, with no hard rules. Mangers become personally involved with their employee’s lives and everything is spilled in the office. It is said this makes for higher achievement and a better quality of work and everyone goes home happy and on schedule.
This kind of demeanor makes for a relaxed workplace but it may also produce a lack of respect for themselves and management. My concern would be; does it really make a quality environment which is presentable to the clients? If the employees come to work in jeans everyday and the client walks in, they are going to wonder if there is a picnic scheduled. Too much tolerance about personal issues, lack of respect for authority, gossiping and not returning telephone calls promptly are a few examples of unprofessional behaviors (which is increasingly common) at all levels that kill corporate proficiency and image. How far can this go before it becomes a work place that is lacking professionalism, and the ability to get the work done adequately without costing the company more money than it should?
The manager of course has to answer for the loss of income, the loss of production and why additional work force must be contracted to help with an emergency that the regular employees cannot handle. This gives me the impression that something, somewhere is being missed by the manger. It is the manager’s responsibility to change the tactics to benefit the company not the employees. No, it does mean to make everyone miserable.
Professionalism is still important in the workplace and without it someone is going to lose something… It may be the manager looses admiration or the company looses money and clientele, if the manager does not change or leaves.

As in any aspect of our life; becoming better is realizing that we need personal growth. There are always checks and balances within a professional’s life that requires personal growth and resisting these changes are not a good business decision. In a professional company, someone is watching and there is always room for improvement, even when things are going well.
